After more than a decade working in the Quartz newsroom, I’m now a writer at large. In a fracturing social media world, I want to maintain a connection with my audience (that’s you). This newsletter is my solution.
If you subscribe (please subscribe) you will receive emails once every two weeks with links to my published work and posts about the things that interest me—you know, futuristic space technology and the return to the Moon, utopian macroeconomics, heists and capers, liberalism in the 21st century, and of course, weird things happening in California and their significance. AND SO MUCH MORE!
This is not intended to be a paid newsletter, at least immediately, but if you want to signal your desire to put bread in my baby’s mouth, I am grateful. It’s possible that a more regular and specifically-focused publication will emerge from this experiment, but for now I’m just getting my feet wet.
What to do now?
Say hi! I’d love to hear from you as I plot out my future. Do you know a story that would fascinate me? Are you an editor who wants to commission a piece? Do you know what I did with my other airpod? Email me.
Check out my past work. There are some good examples on my website.
Give some money to your local food bank. Here in Oakland, I try to give to the Alameda County Community Food Bank at this time of year, and I’m sure there’s a similar institution in your town that could use some support.
Subscribe, naturally.
I’m extraordinarily grateful to so many fellow journalists, editors, readers and sources who have helped me succeed as a working writer for more than 15 years. I’ll save my bellyaching about the industry for another day, and will merely say that there’s more good work to come.
your pal,
